Stewart turns photo collections into hard-cover memory books By CATHERINE HAWLEY Posted 1 month ago If a picture is worth a thousand words, your boxes of loose photos must be worth a whole book. Perhaps more than one. Most people say that if their house caught fire, after the humans and pets, of course, they would desperately want to rescue their photographs.
Treasured, because of the memories they rekindle, they are the history of our lives. Why is it than that we relegate them to envelopes, shoe boxes or file folders? Maybe it's because it can be a
tedious, time-consuming process to co-ordinate them and often the finished product looks homemade, untidy or boring. Not very rewarding.
Bobbi-Lynn Stewart of Forget Me Not Bindings offers a new and different option. To call them photo albums would be understating. She transforms photo collections into beautiful hard cover picture books that tell amazing stories. Your stories.
"There are endless possibilities. Every page is different," she says. "Some people know exactly what words or phrases they want me to include on specific pages with specific pictures. Others prefer to have spaces in which they can enter details themselves. Still others want the pictures to be allowed to tell the story without any text.
"For me, choosing the right theme is very important. Everything should relate to that theme, from the choice of font, the layout and the number of pages, to the choice of cover, colours and embellishments."
Family histories, weddings, baby's first year and pre-and post-natal photo books have
been a big part of Stewart's work this year and now photo business portfolios are growing rapidly in popularity. Designers, renovators, stylists and other before/after businesses are finding these very polished books a great sales and marketing tool.
"Photo Wrap covers are more popular than plain because by using a favourite photo, flush mounted, the photo itself becomes all or part of the front cover," Stewart says. "The remainder of book's shell, the spine and the back can be ordered plain or in faux suedes and leather-like materials. The album books are available in several sizes and, although there is a minimum, the number of pages is decided by individual choices and requirements."
Digital photos have quickly become the norm and they're a very environmentally friendly storage system. For the technically inept, or time challenged among us though, Stewart will take over.
"I can scan an unlimited number of photos onto computer discs for digital printing, including arranging them in sequences and collages for those who wish," she says. "Although I do in-home consultations, the Internet has made the whole process much easier for customers. Because we can now do e-mail exchanges of photos and information, select the choice layouts and even use Pay Pal to finalize orders, the turnaround time is shorter. For today's business it's almost imperative to be computer savvy."
Now is the time to rescue those treasured photos and have them compiled, perhaps for beautiful gifts. To learn more about other photo options and home consultations, contact Stewart at 905-376-3537,
